Chillin' with Jim & Tessa in Montreal

hohoho - get it? chillin'... as in cold? it was -20c to -30c man! oh never mind

Within minutes of departing the taxi that ferried me from the airport to Jim and Tessa’s apartment, a beer was planted in my hand. Some $1 a slice pizza and then out till the bars closed at 3am. We had a great time hanging out over the weekend.

A highlight was the Ethiopian restaurant we went to with some of their friends. It was the first I’d been to, and for those not already in the know here’s how it works: all of the food comes served on top of a giant flat bread on a single huge plate to be shared by all. Everyone eats with their fingers, using small pieces of thin moist bread to scoop up the food. A very tactile experince, and delicious food. For the Mancunians among you, it’s kind of like an Rusholme curry eaten messily with fingers using a damp nan bread… which, come to think of it, I know we’ve all done more times than we’d care to admit!

Anyway, so after the etheopean we headed to a bar and met up with Cam, a friend that a few of us worked with back at Warthog. He moved over recently to work at the same studio Jim’s at – Ubisoft Montreal. Between Jim and myself we managed to get him rip roaring drunk and had a great time nattering away. This is where it all gets a tad vague, but I gather we ended up at a party that Tessa had done a reconnaissance mission on while us delinquents got steaming drunk. Gatecrash is a harsh word, but I’m not convinced we had written invitations either. Jim and myself chatted crap to whoever would listen, and to this uni-lingual English yob his drunken French sounded tres bon… did the chic bi-lingual partygoers agree? We’ll probably never know.

Thanks for a great weekend guys! :)

Gotta say I like Montreal, a very happening and vibrant place. Quality graffiti seems ubiquitous, and for me it’s a really positive aspect of the city’s look and feel.
